Michael Myers moved to Tampa Florida in ’97 where he first encountered electronic music. That’s when he knew this was the lifestyle for him. After being a club kid for a few years he decided it was time for him to be the person behind the decks in control of the vibe. So he bought himself a set of 1200’s. armed with only a crate of house vinyls he spent countless hours counting beats, molesting the pitch controls and cranking knobs. After a few short months and many extra stops at the record stores he was ready to bring it. The year was ’01 and he had already earned himself a residency at a late night club in Tampa where he played breaks influenced by Icey, Rickwest, Dj Fixx, Sharaz, Friction & Spice and other Florida breaks producers. Unfortunately Michael wanted something a little more groovy. Something with a little more soul. So Import Breaks it was! Countless hours were spend digging at record stores across Florida to find these gems. These influences include Rennie Pilgrem, Blim, Meet Katie and kickflip to name a few. Then the anti-rave law took effect and killed the whole scene in ’03. At this point Michael resorted to playing house parties and Underground’s all while building a solid following and continuing to build a massive record collection. He also took this time to hone his mixing and scratching skills. Michael also began to play as an international dj for Boost.FM based out of Australia where he held two weekly shows. In 2010 things started to look up in Tampa as festivals would pop up where Michael was sought after to play. Some of those include Wake Up Florida I & II Spring Gathering and Beats Massive to name a few. He also had many guest and headlining spots throughout Tampa and St. Pete Florida over the last few years. Now Michael finds himself living in Chicago “home of house music” and it shows through his style of blending funky house, minimal/tech house breaks and electro seamlessly to create a grove that will work the dance floor into a frenzy and gently take them back down from the journey. Beside actually sharing his real name with a killer he currently can be found playing around the greater Chicago area and on https://www.the-lost-art.com where he holds a weekly show on Saturday from 11am-1pm CST.
