Naz T N8 was surrounded by music as long as he could remember. So, dj-ing just seemed to be the next logical step in this musical journey we’ve deemed life.
Naz T N8‘s musical career started probably like most; with a recorder. Remember that fake plastic flute? Thank God that only lasted a year! Soon after that, we moved on to real instruments. Naz T N8 started with the trumpet and picked it up very quickly. His second year of music classes were playing jazz. At that point, Naz T N8 was introduced to the fear of performing his 1st solo in Watermelon Man. Once Naz T N8 made it through the anxiety of that first time of being ‘out there’ to either sink or swim, he was able to sit down and get an appreciative thumbs up from the band director, as well as hearing his family and friends cheer. That moment says Naz T N8, “I was hooked.”
In high school Naz T N8 decided to learn other instruments and was a squad leader his junior and senior year, “We competed and performed throughout the south east. In 1993, we were chosen as one of two representatives of North Carolina to march in President Clinton’s inaugural parade.”
After high school Naz T N8 tried to play in the university band. It wasn’t the same for him he states. BUT, a few friends had started dj-ing he thought he’d give it a try. Three months later Naz T N8 played his first house party… “I decided on Naz T N8 as my dj name. But the origin of that is another story for a different day,” winks Naz T N8.
Since then, he’s collected music and entertaining anyone that will listen. Naz T N8‘s been fortunate enough to travel around the south east performing for crowds large and small. With more than a decade under his belt, and with future gigs to play, there’s only one foreseeable end to his musical career: This always has been, and always will be, life.
